Exclusive: Heerenveen to release Ghana striker Matthew Amoah this summer
Mathew Amoah will be released by Heerenveen at the end of the season

Dutch Eredivise side Heerenveen will release Ghana striker Matthew Amoah when his contract runs out at the end of the season, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

According to Voetbal International, Amoah and three others Gianni Zuiverloon, Daniel de Ridder and Kenny Steppe will be shown the exit door this summer.

The 32-year-old Ghana international has battled injuries since moving to the Abe Lenstra Stadion last June.

Amoah has made only one appearance for the club in the Dutch Cup but he never made the grades to play in the league.

Heerenveen coach Marco Van Basten signed the experienced striker from Turkish side Mersin Idmanyurdu.

Despite his failed stint, Amoah is a household name in Dutch football having played and impressed for Vitesse and NAC Breda.
