Powerful defender John Mensah has arrived in Slovakia to complete his move to Nitra FC, boosting his chances of making Ghana's World Cup squad.

The Ghanaian international was in the stands to watch  a training session of his new side at the Štadión pod Zoborom.

The former Black Stars captain has been available on a free transfer since leaving French club Stade Rennes last summer.

With the move now confirmed, as GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively reported, the stalwart centre-back will be in contention for a place in Ghana’s World Cup squad.

The 31-year-old had his excellent club career hampered by a back injury which required extensive spell on the sidelines.

Mensah played at the last two editions of the World Cup finals in Germany and South Africa.
