EXCLUSIVE TRANSFER MARKET / Sampaoli, favourite to take over at Chelsea

Published on: 19 February 2016

The English press are naming Jorge Sampaoli, Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri as the main candidates to be Chelsea manager for next season.

Sampaoli, 55, who was the Chile manager until 19th January, has become the favourite to replace Guus Hiddink at the London club, while Conte and Allegri are other options.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Chile's victory at the Copa América and the fact that Sampaoli was one of the three managers shortlisted by FIFA for the World Coach of the Year Award, alongside Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola, have tickled the fancy of the Russian oligarch, who is keen on hiring the Argentine's services.

"Despite lacking the big European club experience of Simeone, Allegri and Conte, Sampaoli's style of energetic, high-pressing football is attractive to Chelsea owner Abramovich", the paper reports.
