West Ham United are in a three-horse race to sign hugely talented Ghana Under-17 defender Rashid Alhassan, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

German outfit Hannover 96 as well as Major Soccer League side Chicago Fire are also keeping close tabs on the highly rated left-back.

The 17-year-old has been linked to a host of clubs in recent weeks but the Hammers are one of the favourites to sign him after it was revealed that only three clubs are left in the running to secure his services.

The agent of the rising star Samuel Akoto Asante has confirmed the interest of the three clubs.

"There are several interest at the moment. But I can speak of the ones from West Ham and Chicago Fire from the US,"he told GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively.

"Hannover are also interested in his services. We'll look at the best option before deciding on his future.

"He is currently with Ghana's U17 squad for the World Cup in India and so the situation will be clearer after the tournament.

"No need to rush and make any pronouncements but that's the situation with him at the moment.

Alhassan has been tipped for greatness after he excelled for Ghana at the 2017 Africa Under-17 Championship in Gabon.

The youngster is currently on international duty with Ghana ahead of the FIFA U17 World Cup which starts in India on Friday.

Alhassan is a hard-working defender, determined in the tackle and relentless at closing down opponents. His work rate and tireless defending distinguishes him as a top-quality left-back.

The Aduana star has a great drive to get forward in the attack with his natural defensive qualities and combative style of play making him one of the fastest rising left-backs.

The Ghanaian youngster is an exceptional athlete at left-back, who shows good hunger to win back possession and decent timing in tackle.
