Cagliari manager Leonardo Semplici admits Ghanaian midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah’s experience will be crucial in their survival hopes.

The former Juventus and Inter Milan player became the Ghanaian with the most appearances in the serie A with 271 games.

Having won the scudetto six times with Juventus and played an important role as they reach the finals of the UEFA champions League, he is expected to be a key cog for Cagliari.

His arrival at Cagliari sees him reuniting with former teammate at Inter Radja Niangolan, both of whom are expected to translate their experiences into results for the struggling club.

“Radja is the extra element of this team to reach salvation. He is physically improving to get back in full shape. He must be put in the best possible condition, he will play lower than usual. Asamoah will also be decisive, he has great experience and I hope to have him in condition as soon as possible,” said Semplici.

Asamoah made his debut on Sunday in Cagliari’s 2-0 victory over Crotone.

The victory moves them to 18th on the league table.
