Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama has congratulated Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak and stated that it was not his intention to disrespect them.

During the first round of the season, Gama had an interview with Kumasi-based radio station Pure FM, in which he made comments that infuriated Hearts of Oak fans.

Gama said he did not know the Ghanaian giants when he was quizzed about them during the interview, which went viral.

The Phobians who felt disrespected are now basking in joy for beating Gama’s Kotoko to the league crown, while the Porcupine Warriors ended the campaign trophyless.

But in a congratulatory message, Gama cleared the air, saying he did not mean to disrespect the capital-based club.

“I also want to congratulate Hearts of Oak on the [Ghana] Premier League title. It was never my intention to disrespect them,” he wrote on Facebook.

He added that Kotoko “Next season we will come back stronger.”

Gama was undoubtedly Kotoko’s best player but his penalty miss in the quarterfinals of the MTN FA Cup contributed to the club ending the season trophyless.
