Legon Cities striker Asamoah Gyan sent out a strong message to Asante Kotoko fans after they booed him on Saturday.

Gyan was not pleased with the fans’ hostile behaviour during the Ghana Premier League matchday 22 clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars legend was a second substitute, coming on in the 75th minute when Legon Cities were in search of a goal to avoid defeat.

But the striker could not save them as they lost 1-0.

In the more than 15 minutes he spent on the field, Gyan was booed by Kotoko fans any time he touched the ball.

"There is only one Asamoah Gyan and they [Kotoko fans] know it. They should even be grateful that I am playing in the Ghana Premier League,” Gyan told the media after the game.

Gyan came close to joining Kotoko before the start of the season but ditched the Porcupine Warriors at the last hour in favour of Legon.

The 34-year-old had promised to join Kotoko, a club he has been supporting since childhood, but signed for Legon Cities after being offered a lucrative contract.
