Former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has opened up on his failed spell at South Africa side Orlando Pirates.

Dauda claims it was difficult to displace the late Senzo Meyiwa as the first-choice goalkeeper when he joined the club in 2013 from AshantiGold SC.

Meyiwa was murdered in 2014 in South Africa. Before his death he was the first choice goalkeeper of Orlando Pirates and the Bafana Bafana.

The 35-year-old spent only two years in South Africa made only three appearances for the Soweto giants.

He joined Chippa United in 2014 and later returned to Ghana to rejoin AshantiGold in the same year.

"I went at the time where the Senzo Meyiwa was the captain," he told told GTV Sports Plus.

"I learnt a lot from him (Senzo), in fact, he was one of the best in the South African league at that time and he had earned a call-up to the South Africa national team."

After helping AshantiGold to clinch the Ghana Premier League title in 2015, Dauda moved to Nigerian giants Enyimba FC where he spent three seasons.

He currently plays for Legon Cities FC in the Ghana Premier League.
