FEATURE: GN Bank DOL Awards; giant step!

Published on: 10 December 2015

We are comfortably waiting to welcome GN Bank DOL Awards, slated for this weekend, at the Coconut Groove Hotel, Accra. “All is set for the awards and nothing can stop us from going on with it”, this echoes response from all personalities that matter in the impeding event.

The 2014/15 season witnessed one of the best leagues organized for Division One League clubs in Ghana Football. The very fundamental question that runs through lips in this country especially in this hard time is; who sponsors the league? The answer is not far- fetched, GN Bank.

The season commenced on highly motivated note, taking into consideration the mouth-watering deal sealed between the fastest growing company in Ghana, GN Bank, and the Ghana Football Association.

Clubs prepared adequately and kicked started with some promising displays.

At a point in time, some clubs were leapfrogged from the apex of some of the zones whereas others maintained their composure and remained focused with Ebusua Dwarfs reminiscing a typical example, managing to cement their position countlessly.

The battle in Zone One took a different twist when Techiman City took control of the zone but had struggled in most part of the first round.

Zone Three saw debutants Dreams FC tackling match after match but swerved many to bolt with the sole ticket for Premier League participation.

The season still maintains its status as being impressive and imperial as well. Individual output could never be expunged from discussions and a compendium of talents could be celebrated in that area.

Bright Lukman from Dwarfs, Joel Fameyeh from Asokwa Deportivo, Tweneboah Benjamin from Elmina Sharks, Isaac Amoah from Amidaus, Enoch Atta Agyie from Windy Prof, Dauda Mohammed from Dunkwa United, Farouk Adams from Bibiani Gold Stars et al, are enumerated.

The unprecedented awards ceremony is adding an irresistible flavor to the second-tier league which will henceforth compel clubs to provide their maximum efforts when the next football season commences.

Glancing through the awards is fair play club category which to me would alarm clubs to clamp down on hooliganism that might have hindered and denied them of such a gong.

Explanations provided for the omission of an award for coaches is taken in good faith and we stand to see their inclusion in subsequent years.

Media Partners, FIRST DIGITAL TV, contributed incalculably by telecasting matches live on five channels.

This afforded scouts and teams easy routes of monitoring players and created a link between players and football loving fans in the country.

The financial injection from GN Bank shows how committed and dedicated the bank is, ensuring the well-being of all existing souls in the country.

The idea of stretching their hands to embrace the league at a point where the future looked gloomy, calls for massive incessant praises for GN Bank.

With the zeal to serve, indeed they have convinced all Ghanaians of their preparedness to add lots of mind-boggling initiatives to the Division One.

As I hurriedly prepare to witness the ceremony, this giant step taken by GN bank is indelible.
