The former Right to Dream graduate Godsway Donyoh is the highest scoring Ghanaian in top European football so far this season

The talent of forward Godsway Donyoh has always been undisputed ever since he was a young boy at the Right to Dream academy.

Injuries and tough spells at different European clubs held him back since leaving the academy, but now Donyoh, 23, is playing the best football of his career at the Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjaelland.

Bagging 8 goals in 15 matches so far this season makes him the highest scoring Ghanaian in Europe’s top leagues so far this season.

"I’m enjoying the feeling, but it didn’t come by itself. I’ve been working hard and got a lot of help from the coaches in the club. I improved my weaknesses here in Denmark and I got inspiration from former friends and teammates at Right to Dream," says Godsway Donyoh.

"We keep in contact with each other and we share advise. We can help each other in the way we live and around our attitude in the life as a professional football player. Feeling happy in Denmark off the pitch also helps me a lot.

"I had to adjust in the beginning, but now I engage with everyone at the club, and we have that family-feeling here. Feeling at home makes it so much easier to deliver on the pitch."

The current success nowhere near makes Donyoh loose his humility. His story, background and family keeps him focused and hungry for achieving even more.

"Appreciation is key, I think. Looking back at where I come from and grew up, I never knew where the opportunity should come from back then. My parents helped me become successful. But so did Right to Dream," he said.

"The opportunity RTD gave me to achieve my dream. They gave me the best education, taught me about life and developed me as a person.

"My background drives me to work harder and always get to the next level even today, because I am blessed to be one of the very few from Achimota (Christian Village) who made it to here. And that makes me obligated to get the very best out of my career and show everyone else that dreams can come true.

"Just a few weeks ago Donyoh renewed his contract with the Danish club despite interest from other clubs and leagues. Again the background in Accra was an important factor in that decision.

"I feel happy here. And my work is not done in FC Nordsjaelland. Money is not the focus right now, and it is important for me to send a signal to younger players at Right to Dream and in the club here.

"When you are in a place, where you are treated as family, which I always felt at Right to Dream and FC Nordsjaelland, then you must appreciate this.

"My time will come to try something even bigger, but right now I want to keep enjoying my football, continue developing and score even more goals in Denmark."
