Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho lavished teammate Willy Caballero with praise following the goalkeeper's heroics in the final of the League Cup.

City claimed a dramatic 3-1 penalty victory in the final of the Capital One Cup against Liverpool on Sunday and Argentine veteran Caballero was the star for the Citizens on the night, making three world class saves during the shootout.

Midfielder Fernandinho , who scored City's goal in regular time before it ended 1-1 after 120 minutes, has stated that he has been left hungry for even more success following the triumph in the League Cup and paid tribute to teammate Caballero for his heroics on the night.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Fernandinho said: "After all it feels very good - the emotion.

"The team worked very hard and we deserved victory. Caballero – amazing! He was so fast and waited to the last second to go to the ball and he did it very well.

"We are very happy, I hope we can win more trophies. Now it is time to think about the next Premier League game and then it is the Champions League."
