FIFA/CAF liaison team applauds Black Satellites after victory over Benin in AYC qualifiers

The FIFA/CAF Liaison Team have applauded the Black Satellites of Ghana for their 3-1 over Benin in the first leg encounter of the 2019 Africa Youth Championship qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium last Saturday.

The Black Satellites came from a goal down to beat Benin 3-1 ahead of their trip to Cotonou this weekend.

Mr Dan Kwaku Yeboah, the spokesperson of the FIFA/ CAF Liaison team, issued a statement congratulating the coach Jimmy Cobblah and his lads for the win, however, he urged them to focus on qualifying to the African Youth Championship to hosted by Niger after missing out in the last edition.

"The FIFA/ CAF Liaison Team congratulates the technical team and the playing body of the Black Satellites for a performance, that saw you fight from a goal down to defeat Benin 3-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium."

"You displayed a strong physical and mental effort and advertised your ability to bring honour to yourselves and mother Ghana. You fought gallantly to lift aloft the flag of Ghana and we salute you."

"We encourage you to make the second leg a walk in the park on August 12, 2018, in Benin. To qualify for the Africa Youth Championship in Niger 2019 is the ultimate goal."

"The government and people of Ghana are solidly behind you. The Liaison Team is indebted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for encouraging supporters to throng the Stadium," the statement read.

The statement further went to encourage the Black Princesses who despite losing the first match against France demonstrated a sense of fighting spirit as they assured them of support going into the next round of matches.

"Whilst congratulating the Black Satellites, we acknowledge and encourage our valiant Black Princesses who lost their first game against France."

"Opening games against host countries have always been difficult. The Liaison team, therefore, wishes to encourage the Princesses not to give up but continue to fight to pick a place in the group."

“From a group comprising Netherlands, New Zealand, France and Ghana, it is possible that you can qualify beyond the group stage for the first time to make mother Ghana proud. We entreat all Ghanaians to support the Princesses in prayers."
