Fifa to investigate Suarez for handball that denied Ghana

Published on: 03 July 2010

Fifa's disciplinary committee can sanction Suarez for more than the mandatory one-match suspension the Uruguay forward must serve after receiving a red card on Friday.

Fifa spokesman Pekka Odriozola said on Saturday the disciplinary panel has no immediate timetable to look at the incident.

Suarez swatted away Dominic Adiyiah's goalbound header at the end of extra-time with the score 1-1.

Ghana's Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty, and Uruguay then won the ensuing shootout.

Suarez will miss Uruguay's semifinal against the Netherlands on Tuesday.

IF THERE IS JUSTICE IN THAT SO CALL FIFA CAMP, THEN I THINK IS URUQUAYANS WHO HAVE TO GO HOME INSTEAD OF GHANA, OR THE MATCH HAVE TO BE REPLAY. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT A PLAYER TURN TO A KEEPER AND DENYED A WINNEN GOAL AND GOT AWAY WITH IT, IN FRONT OF FIFA, AND YET STILL QUALIFIED THEM TO THE SEMIS WHY? YESTERDAY I COMPLAINED BEFORE THE MATCH ABOUT HOW SUAREZ USE TO FOOL REFEREES IN HOLLAND THAT HE MUST BE WATCH.

hope fifa will look in to this and upgrade the rules of the game and also implore some technologies in to our beautiful game.goal bound balls should be termed as goals and not penalty kicks.

Isn't it possible that if the investigation turns positive that Ghana will go trough to the semi-finals? Just like Bayern-Munchen might still win the UEFA-Champions League, because some players were playing illegal.

FIFA needs needs to step up! In the NBA that would have allowed as a goal as the ball was eventually entering the net but for the intentional hands of SUAREZ. The hands of SUAREZ and FIFA's useless rules has broken the hearts of many in Ghana and Africa as a whole. Ghana out played Uruguay’s and crowned her performance with a last minute goal but for day light robbery by SUAREZ and FIFA Uruguay went through. FIFA MUST allow such goal bound shots that players turn into goal keepers to stop it be accepted as a goal as the eventual KP could easily be missed. This done in the NBA! WHAT THE str_repeat('*',strlen('FUCK')) FIFA???? SUAREZ WILL ROT IN HELL!!!!

It is about time that a referee just takes the move accept such goal bound shots as goal to just as a refree can disallow a goal. I am waiting for that moment.

I think when a goalbound ball is handled on the line.it's resulting penalty kick should be taken without a goal keeper in the post.

Please lets leave Suarez alone. The only way he could have stopped the goal was what he did. He knew the rules of the game. If he is caught, he will get a red card, and a penalty will be awarded. But they may still have a chance to safe the penalty and win. And if he allowed the goal, they only had seconds to score back. Which was almost impossible. If it were you, what will you do? He took the chance, and luckily for him, it worked! The game was fair, and we lost. So let's move on. That's life.

THERE WERE 4 SOUTH AMERICAN TEAMS IN THE QUARTER FINALS OUT AMONT 8. THREE OF THEM (ARGENTINA, BRAZIL AND PARAGUAY) DID NOT MAKE THE SEMI FINALS. THE ONE TEAM THAT CHEATED, URUGUAY, MADE IT. YOU SEE, THOSE WHO PLAY FAIR AND SQUARE LOSES. THOSE WHO CHEAT WIN. THEY ARE APPLAUDED FOR CHEATING TO WIN, AND BECOME NATIONAL HEROES. THAT'S HOW SOCCER RULES GUARANTEE. A REAL SHAME.

They pretend to like Africa but truth of the matter is they don’t. If an African team had done what Suarez did you would have seen the out cry. Alexi Lalas said it wasn’t cheating in his dumb analysis but when the Malian refeere disallowed the US goal he said all sorts shit at referee and called for head, and when Lampard’s goal against Germany was disallowed he criticized FIFA for not using goal line technology and asked for its implementation. But when the odds are against an African team or country it is okay. There was no way Urugauy could have beaten Ghana. With the exception of every few no white man wants anything good to come African or thinks Africans can do better or likes it when black people do better than them. We see that all the time here in US and in Europe. Correct me if I am wrong! They all pretend. Blood would have flow on the pitch for African to team to win the world, and that is why our players have to fight to the end. Why was there only one African referee in an African world cup??? FIFA itself is racist so all the ads against racism in football are just cover up. AFRICA WAKE UP AND UNTIT. WE WOULD THE TOUGHEST PEOPLE ON EARTH IF WE DO JUST THAT!!!

Fifa does not need investigation over Ghana`s last goal against Uruguay. First of all the guy delibrately caught the ball and pushed it out of the goal post. At that point in time the ball had crossed the goal line and so the obvious was for the refree to have whistlled for a goal for Ghana. But for Ghana being an Africa country, they were once again denied of their semi final berth. Let Fifa look at the camera and deny that the ball did not cross the goal line. Fifa always mistreats African countries and turns round and say no African country has gone past quarter final stage. Is this fair when the same Fifa denies the African country what is legally their goal. Fifa must give the goal to Ghana and ask Uruguay to go back home instead of the Black Stars of Ghana. Let me emphatically state that Suarez pushed the ball out with his hands because he knew his cheating act would save his country from elimination. It is this same Uruguayans who protested against the original refree who was to handle the game. I am certain the English refree would have whistlled for a goal for Ghana. Fifa encourages day light cheating and justifies and encourages it because come 2014, there would be more cheating since Fifa condones them.

I believed FiFA is getting swollen headed in its racial reactions against Africa.I think we should form another world football governing body to compete with fifa just like in boxing, wrestling etc.I have had enough of fifa double standard and corruption.Let us join hands with the Asians and form one, it is acheivable. With that Africa can win a world cup with the new body, we dont care , to hell with corrupt Fifa!!

If Luis Suarez turns out to be a hero instead of being punished, then the rules of football need to be written again. Should footballer players(not goalkeepers) DELIBERATELY handle balls as and when they deem necessary?FIFA should initiate intensive punishment for footballers who behave this way and take away the passion in football.Personally, I don't think Luis Suarez is fit to be a football player. He should rather think about some other kind of sport that concerns the hands and not the foot. His behavior should not go unpunished so as to deter others from doing the same and being branded as heroes. He has been cursed by the African continent and his career will definitely come to an abrupt end.Shame on Luis, Shame on Uruguayans.Uruguay will not get any medal out of this tournament.Mark my words

First of we should look and evaluate corectly. Suarez bounced the ball back after ball passes the line. Meaning that after a goal is made. Like many time a keeper or any other player could catch the ball outside of the lines and prevents the ball to go far away and to keep game rolling. Suarez would not have received the red card, if it was not before the net. Because he was standing on the line, and ball had passed the lines. This is a misjudgment of referee. 4th referee could make a call to check the cameras and give the goal, which has happened. Now what fifa should do is to use logic. The same mistake has happened in UK match as well. Suarez should have received the red card in any condition. But it was not a penalty because it was goal before Suarez played with hands. Fifa should start to correct this kind of mistakes. I think they did not want the Ghana in the finals and did not give a correct judgment nor corrected it.

Fifa must surely do something about this suarez hand ball issue with immediate effect. It is because of this that is why the Black stars lost the confident in playing their penalty kicks and were defeated.

Goal should be awarded to Ghana because Suarez caught the ball deliberately. The ball was 100 percent goal bound so the referee should have whistled for a goal and suarez should have been suspended from the entire tournament.Penalty is not a hundred percent proof that one can score and suarez knew that and that was why he caught the ball knowing the penalty would be awarded. Now who is he fooling? The very law that was there to protect the game and advocate fair play.I think in future any goal bound ball that is obstructed with the hand deliberately,Fifa should allow a goal or a penalty be taken without a keeper in the pole period!
