The Benin Football Federation has been warned by football governing body FIFA over a possible expulsion following the government’s issue of arrest warrants for several key football officials.

The country’s government issued the warrant for Executive Committee members of the country’s football federation and CAF observers in relation to the federation elections which were observed last month.

Despite a court injunction order for the suspension of the elections, the federation held polls to elect a new president.

But the country’s authorities are not happy with the election and have called for the arrest of the ExCO members and the CAF Officials who observed the election.

The elections were held in the presence of Fifa Council member Constant Omari who represented the Confederation of African Football.

Government authorities in West Africa have recently be on the throats of football authorities with fears that major countries like Ghana and Nigeria may not qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia due to governmental frustration.
