FIGC consider former coach as Conte replacement

Published on: 04 March 2016

The Italian Football Federation are reportedly considering re-hiring Bologna coach Roberto Donadoni as Italy’s next head coach.

It now looks extremely likely that current coach Antonio Conte will be leaving his current post after Euro 2016 and the Federation are lining up a replacement for the former Juventus coach.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Donadoni, who coached the Azzurri between 2006-2008, has impressed the Federation with the stabilisation job he’s done with the Rossoblu, which has seen Bologna rise to ninth place in Serie A.

However, Donadoni is naturally still strongly admired by Bologna’s owner Joey Saputo, and as a result the FIGC are also looking at current Torino coach Giampiero Ventura as Conte’s possible replacement.

Ventura is on the Federation’s shortlist as he is likely to leave Il Toro at the end of the season.
