Fiorentina forward targeted by Premier League high-flyers

Published on: 06 January 2016

Premier League side Crystal Palace are keen on signing Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar in the January transfer window.

The Eagles have impressed under former Reading coach Alan Pardew but the seventh-placed side have struggled to find a consistent talisman to lead the line in 2015/16, with Connor Wickham’s solitary goal the only striker to have scored this season.

According to The Daily Mirror, Palace have launched a €19 million bid for Babacar after being rebuffed by Juventus in their attempts to sign Simone Zaza.

22-year-old Babacar has performed well for the Viola recently, scoring six goals for the season, and finds himself on the bench for today’s trip to Palermo and Fiorentina look to continue their push for the Scudetto.

Should the Senegalese forward leave, Southampton striker Graziano Pelle is rumoured to be Paulo Sousa’s first-choice replacement.
