Fiorentina midfielder poised to sign new contract

Fiorentina midfielder Matias Vecino looks set to renew his contract in Florence despite interest from Serie A leaders Napoli.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Partenopei during the current transfer window after a string of impressive performances for the Gigliati this season.

According to Corriere Fiorentino, the Uruguayan attacker will triple his wages on a deal which will run until the summer of 2021 and will also contain a buyout clause in the region of €20 million to deter potential suitors.

The player is keen on remaining in Florence and developing his game instead of a move to Naples where he would not be guaranteed regular playing time.

Vecino has made 15 appearances so far this season under coach Paulo Sousa but is yet to register on the scoresheet.
