Fiorentina reluctant to sack Iachini despite Sarri and Spalletti options

Maurizio Sarri and Luciano Spalletti have been linked with the Fiorentina coaching role but Gigliati president Rocco Commisso is reportedly reluctant to sack incumbent Giuseppe Iachini.

The 56-year-old was given a contract extension until the end of the 2020/21 season but the Viola’s start to the campaign has been underwhelming and it is possible that he might not last the season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Sarri and Spalletti are the main candidates to replace Iachini at Fiorentina if Commisso does sack him, but due to previous coach Vincenzo Montella still being under contract, the Gigliati patron is reluctant to pay three coaches at once.

Sarri was sacked by Juventus after the end of the 2019/20 campaign despite winning the Serie A title, whilst Spalletti has been out of a job since Inter replaced him with Antonio Conte at the conclusion of the 2018/19 season.

Fiorentina are 12th in the Serie A table and have collected four points from four matches.
