Fiorentina forward Nikola Kalinic says he is living his childhood dream by playing for the club in Serie A.
Prior to joining the Viola in 2015, Kalinic had previously enjoyed stints in his home of Croatia, England and Russia but says Italy’s top flight has always been his ideal destination.
“Joining Fiorentina was the realisation of my childhood dream,” the Croatian international told Gloria.
“Ever since I was 10 years old and playing for the youth teams of Hadjuk Split I was dreaming of being able to play in Serie A.”
Kalinic was made to wait to fulfil his goals but finally secured his move to Florence at the age of 27, scoring 11 league goals since.
One of the highlights of his season so far was an incredible hat trick against previous league leaders Inter, in a match which saw Fiorentina rise to the summit of Serie A for the first time in over 16 years.
