Fit-again Thomas Partey in action as Arsenal battered by Liverpool

Published on: 20 November 2021

Thomas Partey was in action on Saturday for Arsenal whose 10-game unbeaten run came to a halt as they got battered 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield.

The Ghanaian lasted 84 minutes before being replaced by Egyptian midfielder Mohammed Elneny.

Partey was declared fully fit days before the match having missed Ghana’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa due to a groin injury.

Although he could have played, Arsenal feared he would aggravate the injury and decided to not allow him to join Black Stars camp.

He started the game on Saturday but with six minutes to go and Liverpool leading 4-0, Partey was withdrawn.

Arsenal may have lost heavily but Partey put in a decent performance and came close to scoring.

Liverpool’s African stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were on target with the Senegalese scoring a brace.
