Five Ghanaian players will play at the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup next month after their DR Congo club TP Mazembe sealed their place at the tournament in Japan on Sunday.

Solomon Asante, Yaw Frimpong, Daniel Nii Adjei, Richard Kissi Boateng and Gladson Awako are expected to be part of the TP Mazembe team scheduled to play in the competition for the best continental clubs in the world.

This comes after TP Mazembe secured a triumphant return to the tournament after they beat USM Alger 4-1 on aggregate in the CAF Champions League final in front of a packed crowd in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

The 2-0 scoreline on the day, courtesy of second-half goals form Mbwana Samatta and Roger Assale, meant the side from Congo DR will hope to repeat their heroics from 2010, when they became the first African side in history to reach the Club World Cup final.

They will meet either Auckland City or the Japanese national champions in the quarter-finals this December.
