Controversial ex-Ghana international Baba ‘Armando’Adamu will announce his retirement from football in two weeks time.
The 33-year-old, who recently quit Berekum Chelsea, has finally decided to hang up his boots in a career which took him to several clubs abroad.
The news will surprise many after making known his decision to seek career revival with a lower division club on Wednesday.
The former Asante Kotoko striker has revealed his frustration after been axed from the Black Stars squad that made their World Cup debut in Germany 2006.
In a career littered with explosive and controversial statements, Armando never realized his full potential because of wrong decision and the penchant for picking up unnecessary quarrels.
He claims his decision to lower the curtain on football stems from his failure to represent the country at world football's showpiece event.
“I have been thinking of it since I failed to make the 2006 World Cup squad and now it is time for me to quit football and move one.†Adamu said
“Playing football has resulted in people trying to destroy my image and doing all kind of things. “When I was ready to do my own thing for Ghana in Germany, I was denied the opportunity.
“A press conference will soon be organized for me to announce my decision and I will not be involved in any aspect of professional football.
"So in two weeks’ time, I will officially announce my decision at a Press Conference.â€
The controversial football figure has been in the news in recent times for all the wrong reasons after claiming the current Black Stars squad lacked the quality to win the African Cup of Nations title.
He sparked huge debate when he claimed Andre Ayew was the only 'exceptional' player in the Ghana national team at the moment.
