Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi has admitted that he is extremely proud to be attending the FIFA awards ceremony with Barcelona striker Lionel Messi, who he regards as the best player on the planet.

Having been nominated for the Puskas award for his significant long-range goal during a 1-1 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League, the Italy international has revealed he is not concerned with winning and that he is simply happy to be present in the Zurich.

“It is a dream to be here,” said Florenzi to Roma TV. “I will not be thinking about winning the prize and instead I just want to enjoy the event.

“I am truly content at having scored the goal, especially as it introduced me to the global footballing environment.

“It is emotional to be here with Messi; he is the best player in the world and this makes me proud.”
