Football Manager 2021 - Game Review
Football Manager

Just in time for the new football season, the famous Football Manager 2021 key was just released on November the 10th. The latest part of the series will be released on November 24th and will feature some exciting improvements.

Due to the corona pandemic, the original release of the Football Manager 2021 was postponed by a few weeks.

While the final release is planned for November 24th, the beta version started already on November 10th. In this review you will learn all about the improvements in the version.

The hard life of a football manager

Veterans  in Football Manager know what to expect from a new version of the game in general. The hard life of a manager who takes care of the well-being of his own football club with numerous detailed and realistic tasks.

However, this task sounds much simpler in theory than it ultimately is. Just buy Messi and Ronaldo and you will win the Champions League easily, many readers may think but there is a lot more to it than that.

As a manager you have to  deal with players, staff, tactics, the offspring, the board of directors and of course with the press. All the above is nothing new for the experienced manager gamer, but of course the Football Manager 2021 also comes with a lot of  innovations.

What is new in Football Manager 2021

Football Manager 2021 is of course not completely reinventing the manager game. But Sports Interactive has some new features up their sleeves. In addition to a completely new match engine, a lot has happened in the areas of presentation, interaction and statistics.

For example in terms of realism, the interactions seem a lot finder than its predecessor. Gestures like smiling or pointing a finger now appear more realistic and they also influence the audience's reaction. Dealing with agents is the daily business of a real football manager. In the new Football Manager you are able to speak to the agents directly during a transfer negotiation to discuss the conditions for a possible change.

In addition to the interaction with agents, there are now so-called recruitment meetings in which you can discuss your transfer policy with your employees in the short and long term. To open a transfer window, analyze the needs and construction sites of your squad in order to plan for the new season.

Every football fan loves statistics. That is why In the latest part of Football Manager they are much more uncomplicated and sociable than before. You can get reports on the well-being of your team through the performance analyst. Another innovation is the statistic of the expected goals, which gives you useful information about where the team still can improve in order to close the gap on the transfer market.

Is it better than last year?

A key question for all the Football Manager is, if the gaming experience got better with the new release. And the answer is of course yes. Of course the Football Manager 2021 isn’t a completely new created game but the gaming experience and the overall impression has evolved.

Football Manager 2021 positions itself above its predecessor. Especially the Interactions, the interviews after the game or the improved physics make the game appear much more realistic, which is very nice for the general feeling of the game. Of course the graphics are not a revelation but given the game's intense amounts of data, this is less of a priority.

Then there are the improvements in the areas of tactics and statistics. Particularly the statistics, one of the most important parts of the game, feel a lot less complicated and can easily be understood.  The current COVID-19 pandemic also found its way into Football Manager 2021 and is having a realistic impact on your team’s finances.

Therefore you have less transfers and investments in the beginning. This kind of detail puts the Football Manager 2021 so close to the reality. After some time passed the situation will level off and the manager's everyday life will normalize as the game progresses. Finally in the process of the season business will be as usual.

A game worth playing

For today it has to be said that the current version of the Football Manager 2021 isn’t exactly the same game that will be released on November 24th, due to its status as an alpha version.

Surely there will be some improvements and the game will even get better.

What this all amounts to is that the Football Manager 2021 is very convincing across-the-board and even players who weren’t fans of the game before can easily become such. But people who already bought their cd keys will benefit from the re-updates, free of charge.
