Football stakeholders are eagerly anticipating President Mahama's appointment of a competent sports minister capable of revitalizing Ghana’s sports landscape.
With the renaming of the Youth and Sports Ministry to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the expectation for impactful leadership has grown significantly.
Speaking to Peace FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com, former Ghana FA executive council member Samuel Anim Addo highlighted the critical need for a minister with a deep understanding of sports, particularly boxing and football, which have historically elevated Ghana’s image on the global stage.
“It’s essential to identify and invest in sports where Ghana holds a comparative advantage,” Anim Addo explained. “From athletics, especially sprints, to football, we’ve seen remarkable success. A proactive minister must recognize and nurture these strengths.”
Anim Addo also emphasized the importance of global benchmarking. “We need someone who understands international sports trends and can draw from best practices to enhance our performance,” he added.
