Ex-Arsenal FC defender Martin Keown praises the Gunners new boy Thomas Partey following his stunning full debut against Rapid Wien in the Europa League.

Keown has likened Partey to club legend Patrick Vieira.

The Ghana midfielder was handed his first start by manager Mikel Arteta in Thursday's Europa League opener away to Rapid Vienna.

Partey made an explosive start in central midfield, winning balls for his new side while leaving opponents for dead with the use of his power, pace and nimble footwork.

The 27-year-old was voted man of the match by the Arsenal fans at the end of the game.

Keown's description of Partey's outstanding performances in Thursday's is as same as the attributes of the ex-Arsenal skipper Vieira.

"I think you know when you see a player immediately add that touch of class, who wants to play and makes things happen. He's so silky smooth, he's oozed class and been everywhere." Keown said.

He joined Arsenal on a five-year deal for a reported fee €50 million from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day.

Partey made his Gunners debut last weekend in the Premier League against Manchester City, joining the action as a second half substitute.
