Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong confident Ghana will beat Nigeria in WC Play-offs

Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Frimpong remains positive Ghana can edge the Super Eagles of Nigeria and qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

The four times African champions were drawn against their perennial rivals for the final round of qualifiers in a draw held in Douala last Saturday.

Despite Ghana's shambolic Nations Cup performance, the ex-Arsenal star believes Ghana can beat Nigeria, who had a 100% group stage record at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

“The Black Stars have suffered a huge backlash after their poor display in the AFCON 2021 and because of that, I see them beating Nigeria in the WC playoffs," said Frimpong on GTV Sports Plus.

Frimpong has been doing punditry job on national television in Ghana, and has been a part of the GTV Sports Plus team since AFCON began.

Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg of the World Cup qualifiers on March 21 before traveling to Lagos seven days later for the second leg.
