Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong 'proud' to have represented Ghana over England

Former England youth international Emmanuel Frimpong says he has no regrets opting to play for Ghana at the senior level. 

The ex-Arsenal player, who represented England at the U16 and U17 levels decided to play for Ghana in 2013, making his international debut against Sudan.

However, his career with the West African powerhouse did not see the light of the day following a series of injuries while playing for clubs in Europe.

"I don’t follow the money too much. Obviously, playing for England, you get money and more exposure, I remember when I used to watch Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah So, I have always had a passion for playing for Ghana. I am proud I did that," he told GTV Sports Plus.

Frimpong started his career with Arsenal youth side in 2011 before he was promoted to the senior team by Arsena Wenger. He later spent time on loan at Wolves, Charlton and Fulham.

The hard tackling midfielder then spent time with Barnsley, Ufa, Arsenal Tula, Ekilstuna and Ermis Aradippou. He hanged his boots in 2017.
