Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Adebayor leaves Olimpia after just FOUR appearances

Paraguayan side Olimpia have terminated the contract of Emmanuel Adebayor by mutual consent after just FOUR appearances for the club.

The South American side have backtracked due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The club has cited safety concerns and economic restrictions as the reason behind parting ways with the former Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester City striker.

The capital city club said in a statement: "The contract with the Togolese player Emmanuel Adebayor has been cancelled by mutual consent.

"This situation has come about because of the difficulties the player would have in returning to Paraguay.

"He would need to take multiple flights, and they could place his health at risk.

"We thank Emmanuel Adebayor for his professionalism, and we wish him success in the future."
