Former Egypt forward Mohamed Nagy 'Gedo' hangs boots

Former Egypt international forward Mohamed Nagy 'Gedo' has announced his retirement from football with immediate effect at age 36.

The former Al Ahly SC forward made his debut for the Egypt national team against Malawi on 29 December 2009.

Gedo was later named as part of the 2010 African Cup of Nations squad.

He was top scorer of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola where the Pharaohs emerged as champions.

The former Hull City FC player scored in five out of the six matches at the tournament having scored the only goal in the final against Ghana.

Gedo also played for Arab Contractors, El-Entag El Harby, El Gouna FC and Al Ittihad Al Sakandary.

The player announced he will start his training career from this day by preparing for coaching licence, to keep on the track of the game he loves most.
