Former German Bundesliga coach open to joining Legon Cities

Black Stars 'B' head coach Ibrahim Tanko says he is open to coaching a team in the domestic-topflight but is yet to receive an offer.

The former assistant coach of Bundesliga side Cologne has been linked with a move to Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities.

Legon Cities recently parted ways with Bosnia trainer Goran Barjaktarević, making their head coach position vacant.

Goran was sacked after the team's 3-0 defeat to Great Olympics on matchday two of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

With reports in the local media stating Ibrahim Tanko has been linked to the job, the former Dortmund star said he is yet to receive an offer from the club.

He stated that he is not against the idea of joining the Royal but a deal is far off the cards as no communication has come from the club.

He told the media that when an offer comes, he will consider it and if the conditions are right, he will take up the mantle of being the head coach of the club.

“I have not been contacted by anyone from Legon Cities. I have seen the stories on social media but no one has spoken to me about. I’m open to joining any club as far as the conditions are right. I will consider a lot of things before making any move so if they come and convince me about the project, I will join”, he said.

Tanko becomes the second person to refute links of being on the verge of joining the Royals.

Tanko is regarded as one of the best Ghanaian coach currently having served as an assistant at the Black Stars and the Cameroon national team.

The former Black Stars and Borussia Dortmund striker led the Black Meteors to a semi-final finish at the Africa under-23 championship in Egypt.
