Former Ghana midfielder Mallam Yahaya opens up on his football journey, national team and coaching

Former Ghana midfielder Mallam Yahaya has revealed how he started his footballing career, from his juvenile football days to reaching the highest level in the game. 

Yahaya started his career in Kwabre, a suburb of Kumasi before moving on to play for some lower tier clubs in the Ashanti Region.

It was through his youth football career that he met the likes of Nii Odartey Lamptey and Isaac Asare, all former national team stars.

The then petite midfielder had the shot to Premier League football after Ahaji Grusah spotted him playing in a lower division game.

Grusah convinced him to join King Faisal, where he gained massive recognition earning him a national team call up.

The skillful midfielder lived his dream of becoming a professional football as he secured a mammoth move to Germany to play for Borrusia Dortmund.

After hanging his boots, Mallam Yahaya has taking to coach and was former coach of New Edubiase, but currently on the books of Premier League outfit Karela United as their assistant coach.

In an interview with Beyond The Pitch, which shows on Ghana's Premier TV Station, GTV Sports Plus, the ex-Black Stars player spills it all out.
