Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Daniel Nii Adjei has called on the club’s supporters to rally behind the team despite recent setbacks.
The Porcupine Warriors succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Lions in matchday 9 of the Ghana Premier League clash on Sunday.
The loss, which occurred at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, marks Kotoko's second consecutive defeat and ends their unbeaten home record in the top-flight.
Kwadwo Obeng Jnr’s strike was enough for the visitors to amass maximum points in the thrilling encounter.
Speaking after the game, Nii Adjei, who is currently the assistant coach of Lions entreated the fans to rally behind the club when the going gets tough.
“I will urge the fans to rally behind the team in difficult times. I don’t think the players will deliberately lose a game. They lose their bonuses when they suffer defeat and also brings their enthusiasm down” he told Kessben FM, as followed by Ghanasoccernet.com.
“As supporters of the club, we always have to cheer the players up in tough times. We shouldn’t leave them in times of difficulties. The fans should keep supporting the team” he added.
Following this defeat, Asante Kotoko has dropped to third place in the league standings with 15 points. The team will aim to bounce back in their next match against Bechem United as they look to regain their form in the league.
