Former Real Madrid chief Jorge Valdano sees Zidane’s appointment as ‘RISKY’

Former Real Madrid General Manager, Jorge Valdano has described the appointment of former club legend Zinedine Zidane as the head coach of Real Madrid as risky.

The Algerian-born French international was announced on Monday as the new coach of the Los Blancos following the dismissal of Rafa Benitez.

The former Juventus star spent six years as a player for the Spanish giants and began his coaching career at the club, taking over the Real Madrid Castilla side in 2014.

However, Valdano insists that the lack of experience for Zidane at the top level makes his appointment very risky for the White Angels.

“Zidane taking over is such a risky move because of his lack of experience,” he told El Larguero.

Valdano also disclosed why he think the relationship between Madrid and Rafa Benitez went sour.

“Benitez had troubles to implement his precise ideas in a squad with too many attacking midfielders,” he said.

“Benitez also made more of an effort to accommodate club than the club made to accommodate Benitez.”
