Fortuna Dusseldorf Sporting Director Uwe Klein confirms departure of Kevin Danso

Austria-born Ghanaian Kevin Danso has returned to parent club FC Augsburg after a season on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The defender spent last season in the Bundesliga II with Fortuna Dusseldorf but failed to achieve promotion with the club.

His departure is now a major concern for Dusseldorf who are hoping to replace him with youngster Jamil Siebert.

"He has the potential," said Sporting Director Uwe Klein. "We're not saying he should get in line. But we lost Luka Kranjc and Kevin Danso and we have to do something in this position," he added.

Danso played 32 times last season, scoring two goals and providing an assist as they finished fifth.

He returns to Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg where he is expected to fight for a place in the starting team.

His contract with Augsburg expires in the summer of 2024.
