Promising forward Jamie Leweling scored on his debut appearance for Germany U21 after turning down an invitation to play for Ghana.
Leweling scored in Germany's 6-0 demolishing of San Marino U21 in the European Championship qualifiers during the recent international break.
The 20-year-old was promoted to the U21 team recently after excelling at U19 and U20 levels for Germany.
Lewling was handed a debut Black Stars call-up in November last year but he did not honour it because he feared he would be tied permanently to Ghana, hampering any potential future plans to switch to Germany.
"The boy (Jamie Leweling) can't honour the call up because it will be very complicated if he wants to switch back to represent Germany in any category of the national team if things don't go well for him with Ghana," a source told GHANAsoccernet.com.
"Jamie won't come to Ghana because, after further explanation of issues surrounding his call-up, he has decided not to play for Ghana now due to several complications which are both sporting and personal."
Since then, he has been progressing steadily with the Germans tipping him to great things.
Thus far this season, Leweling has made three appearances in the Bundesliga for Greuther Furth and scored one goal.
