Ex-Sevilla striker Frédéric Kanoute insists Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey is Africa’s most outstanding player in the La Liga this season.

The former Mali striker and the 2007 African Footballer of year claims Partey stands tall amongst all the African players trading in the Spanish top division this campaign.

Partey, 28, is having his best season in the La Liga with Atlético Madrid as he has made 33 league appearances so far.

He has netted twice in the process with all the goals being sublimely executed.

With the delightful display this term, Partey has been linked with a move outside the Wanda Metropolitano as Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal FC are believed to chasing for his services.

In recent weeks, the Ghana midfielder has been reported heading to Arsenal with the English Premier League side ready to activate his release clause.

"It is difficult to answer but there are two players that have impressed me – one is a bit younger and that is [Samuel Chukwueze]," said Kanoute during a LaLiga conference on Monday as quoted by Goal.

"There is [Youssef] En-Nesyri who scored against [Real Mallorca on Sunday] for Sevilla. I like Baba [Rahman] from Mallorca and [Andre-Frank] Anguissa from Villarreal and Cameroon.

"I have followed all of them and I would say that the one who took a higher and bigger dimension is Thomas Partey.

"He is all over the place in the middle of the park. He has impressed me in terms of his activity, the quality of his passes, recovery and winning so many balls.

"So, I would say Thomas Partey is number one."
