French defender Dimitri Foulquier is set to provide competition for Dennis Appiah at FC Nantes.

Appiah joined the Canaries on a four-year deal from Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht in the summer.

He has battled for the first choice right-back position with Fabio at the club.

However, FC Nantes are seeking to strengthen the right-back spot in the winter after the Brazilian picked up an injury.

According to reports emerging from France, the club have set their sights on signing former FIFA U-20 World Cup winner, Dimitri Foulquier, in the upcoming January transfer window to provide competition for Appiah.

Foulquier has been declared a surplus to requirement at English side Watford after making just three appearances in the ongoing season.

It could be the second time in two years that the 26-year-old is returning to France. During the 2017/18 season, he joined Strasbourg on loan from the Hornets — making 16 appearances.
