Malawi’s FA President Walter Nyamilandu has described Ghana’s friendly with China as ‘merely an excursion’ even though they are yet to secure an opponent for the August 15 date.

The Black Stars will step up their preparations ahead of their 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against the Flames in September with a warm up game with the Asian giants in Beijing.

However Ghana’s opponent’s, Malawi say they are not perturbed by the seemingly serious posture of the Ghana FA towards the crucial tie and that they are at their own pace with preparations though confused by an earlier Caf directive which sought to cancel the August 15 friendly date.

“We have heard about that (Ghana’s friendly) and it comes as a great surprise and there appears to be conflicting message because Caf are saying August 15 is no longer on Fifa calendar,” Nyamilandu said.

“We are also pursuing a friendly match around the same time because we don’t want to be caught unawares.”

Ghana will host the first leg of the ultimate qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 9 before traveling to Lilongwe for the return encounter a week later.
