From Messi, Suarez and Griezmann to Pique, Aguero and De Jong

As we analyse El Clasico, there is always a need for context. There's a need for context with everything, including a Clasico.

At the Camp Nou, there was a sense of nostalgia. As the minutes went by, Barcelona fans were wondering what Pep Guardiola's Blaugrana side would have been able to do to this current Real Madrid team. They also feared how much worse it could have been had Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid of three consecutive Champions League been on the pitch on Sunday to play this subpar Barcelona outfit.

Barcelona have gone in just over a year from finishing big matches with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann in the opposition area to having Gerard Pique up in attack alongside Luuk de Jong and Sergio Aguero. The Argentine scored his first goal in this game, that's true, but that 96th minute strike won't live long in the Clasico memories.
