AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has revealed an alternative scenario which could have led Carlos Bacca to Real Madrid last summer if Carlo Ancelotti had not left Los Blancos.
The Colombia international joined the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side in July 2015, after Atletico Madrid had managed to hijack a seemingly-done deal for Bacca’s compatriot Jackson Martinez, signing the former Porto forward for €35 million.
“Bacca is a terrific player, he just needs one shot to score,” Galliani told milannews.it
“I tracked him throughout the last two years at Sevilla. I really esteem their coach Unay Emery, but it doesn’t mean he’s coming to Milan.
“Football is all about details. If [Carlo] Ancelotti hadn’t been sacked by Real Madrid, Bacca would be playing alongside Benzema now.”
During the Milanese outfit’s 2-1 win over Genoa on Sunday, the 29-year-old striker netted his 13th Serie A goal, taking further a record which saw him scoring at his first attempt in 10 different games.
AC Milan earned 11 points in their last five matches, and are back in the Champions League race as they sit just four points behind third-placed Fiorentina.
