Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has praised the performance of his team after the Grifone beat Udinese 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Despite going 1-0 behind in the match, the Rossoblu were on top for the majority of the game and the Zebrette were lucky to concede just two goals.
“In the first-half we were excellent, but even though we dominated we went 1-0 down.” said Gasperini to Radio Rai after the match.
“The team produced a great reaction to conceding, we scored two good goals and should have got a third. The final few minutes were tense because of the penalty but [Mattia] Perin made a great save, the victory was deserved.
“Perin is a great goalkeeper, he made a mistake for the first goal but he redeemed himself as all great goalkeepers do by saving a decisive penalty.”
Gasperini was also pleased with the fans for their continued support for the players after they conceded first.
“I’m pleased with the fans as they responded well, I hope that now we can continue like this and avoid relegation,” Gasperini added.
