Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kwabena Agyapong has urged the Ghana football authorities and clubs to cut down fees charged at stadiums during football games.

The ex-sports journalist and football administrator has suggested gate fees should be reduced to 5 Cedis to encourage more fans to attend football matches across the country.

Mr. Agyapong says football fans in Ghana are not that rich therefore there is the need for the gate fees to be slashed for stadium attendance to be easily accessible.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV, Kwabena Agyapong believes it will be more beneficial to the clubs to charge 5 Cedis and have more fans at the stadium than charge 20 Cedis for few people to attend.

"On the Ghana premier league, I think the gate fees should be slashed to as low as 5 Cedis, the popular stand which is 20 Cedis should be made 5 Cedis," he said

"With this, there will be more fans at the stadium. It will be better to have the stadium full to capacity with a gate fee of 5 Cedis than 20 Cedis with fewer fans like only a thousand people there."
