Gattuso unhappy with attitude in Atalanta defeat

Published on: 03 July 2020

Gennaro Gattuso lamented his team's lack of focus following Thursday's 2-0 defeat at Atalanta.

“I didn't like our attitude today,” the boss explained. “We wasted time and energy complaining when we should have been much more focused on the game. There was too much pointless chat and I didn't like that.

“Despite that we still managed to remain in control in the first half. Atalanta never had us on the ropes.

"With the quality we have up front we should have done better in the final third. Atalanta never had a shot on goal – we scored the goals for them.

"I do not want us to ease up now. August is a long way off and we must use these games to grow. We have to nurture a winning mentality.”
