George Afriyie is currently acting as the President of the Ghana FA due to the absence of Kwesi Nyantakyi and Fred Crentsil.

The substantive Ghana FA boss and his vice are currently away on international duty at the CHAN tournament in South Africa.

Nyantakyi who is a member of the powerful CAF Executive Committee was in Lagos on Thursday for the 2013 Glo CAF awards.

He continued with a trip to South Africa ahead of the commencement of the CHAN tournament on Saturday.

His vice, Fred Crentsil on the other hand, is also in South Africa working for CAF as a member of the CHAN organizing committee.

George Afriyie, who is a Ghana FA Executive Committee member, has therefore taken interim charge of the football association back home in Ghana.

This is to ensure that the administration and operations of the GFA is not unduly hampered by the absence of the substantive head and his vice.

Afriyie’s first task as interim Ghana FA boss was to hand FIFA badges to 22 deserving referees in a ceremony held on Friday.
