German-born Kingsley Schindler has reiterated his desire to represent Ghana, making himself available for a Black Stars call-up.

Schindler was born to Ghanaian parents in Hamburg and despite having an option of two playing for either Ghana or Germany, the Hannover 96 midfielder had long been interested in the West African country.

According to him, since he was a young boy, he has been dreaming of playing for Ghana. He wanted to start from the youth teams, but unfortunately, he never received a call-up.

Now 27, Schindler is hoping for a call-up to the senior national team, Black Stars to realize his dream.

“I’m ready [to play for the Black Stars]. Since I was a young boy, I have been dreaming about playing for the Black Stars. It will be an honour to play for my homeland,” Schindler told Ghanasoccernet.com from his base in Hannover.

He added: “I know that Ghana is building a new team [under CK Akonnor] and I want to help them to achieve the next step. I want to help the Black Stars get to the next level.”

Career

Schindler spent his youth career at SC Concordia, Hannover 96 and TSG Neustrelitz. In 2013, he transferred to 1899 Hoffenheim II, where he competed in the Regionalliga Südwest.

From 2016, he played for Holstein Kiel. The club achieved promotion to the 2. Bundesliga in 2017, leading to Schindler's breakthrough as a professional footballer.

In January 2019, it was announced that Schindler would leave Kiel after the season and sign a contract until 2023 with 1. FC Köln who achieved promotion to the Bundesliga later that season.

In August 2020, Schindler was loaned to Hannover 96 for one year.

Schindler has made six appearances thus far this season.

He has been useful, having featured in three different positions including right back.
