German-born forward of Ghanaian descent, Ansgar Knauff, assisted a goal for Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night when the team cruised past Ajax with a huge 4-1 victory in the Europa League.

The former Borussia Dortmund attacker started for his team against the Dutch opponent and lasted the entire duration of the contest.

In what was a second-leg meeting between the two sides, Eintracht Frankfurt took the lead after just seven minutes when Jean-Matteo Bahoya equalised with an assist from Hugo Ekitike.

Later, in the 25th minute, Mario Gotze also found the back of Ajax’s net, doubling the lead for the German outfit.

After recess, Eintracht Frankfurt continued to dominate the game and made it 3-0 in the 67th minute thanks to a strike from Hugo Ekitike after a great solo run into the Ajax area.

The final goal of the contest was scored by Mario Gotze, who completed a brace in the 82nd minute after he was set up by German-Ghanaian winger Ansgar Knauff.

The only consolation goal for Ajax was courtesy of an equaliser from Kenneth Taylor.

Unfortunately, it was not enough to change the outcome of the tie, with Eintracht Frankfurt progressing to the quarter-finals of the Europa League with a 6-2 aggregate win.

Ansgar Knauff now has two goals and two assists in this season's Europa League after 10 appearances for Frankfurt in the competition.
