Gerson in Rome ahead of €17m deal with Roma

Impending Roma signing Gerson is in the Italian capital to confirm his transfer to the club from Fluminense.

The Giallorossi laid claim to the midfielder back in the summer as they beat a host of European giants to the player, and after being made to wait it appears as though official confirmation is imminent.

La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that the Brazilian landed in Rome on Wednesday.

Gerson will sign a five-year deal with Rudi Garcia’s side, in a transfer that will cost Roma €17 million.

However, there are still some issues which need to be ironed out before the transfer can be completed, as a decision has not yet been made with the player and his family on whether to loan him out for game time or to base him in Rome.

It’s believed that the 18-year-old personally wants a loan for the remainder of the season to feature on the pitch regularly.
