GFA announces 2024/25 Premier League season to conclude in June

Published on: 23 July 2024

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the dates for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The opening matches are set to kick off on the weekend starting Friday, September 6, 2024, and will run until Monday, September 9, 2024, across all nine Premier League centres.

The 2024/25 season will span 34 weekends and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

In an effort to reduce the travel burden on clubs, there will be no official midweek matchdays.

Instead, midweek slots will be reserved for clearing outstanding games for clubs participating in the 2024/25 Africa Inter Club Competitions or rescheduled matches.

Additionally, the league will observe a one-week break leading up to the December 7, 2024, National Elections, allowing players and officials to travel and fulfill their civic duties. This break underscores the importance of civic responsibility within the football community.

The conclusion of the season on June 8, 2025, will provide clubs ample time to comply with CAF's Club Licensing requirements ahead of their participation in the 2025/26 Africa Inter Club Competitions.

This scheduling decision is expected to enhance the preparedness of Ghanaian clubs for continental challenges.
