The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is exploring the possibility of adopting a broadcast syndication model for the Ghana Premier League as it seeks to fill the gap left by the collapse of its deal with StarTimes.

This model would involve a consortium of local broadcasters sharing the rights to televise matches, allowing for wider coverage and more flexibility in how games are presented to viewers.

It is being considered as a practical alternative to a single exclusive broadcast partner, following the end of the GFA’s contract with StarTimes at the close of the 2023/24 season. Renewal talks between the two parties broke down in March 2025.

The GFA believes a syndicated model could deliver better value for clubs, sponsors, and fans, while also promoting healthy competition among broadcasters. In the meantime, matches are being covered by various stations, including Globe TV and Metro TV.

The Association is committed to ensuring that any future arrangement supports transparency, consistency, and improved visibility for Ghanaian football. The new approach could also open up opportunities for regional broadcasters and digital platforms to get involved, making the league more accessible across different audiences and communities. The GFA is expected to engage stakeholders in the coming weeks.
